When it was announced in December 2010 that Summerwine Jive was to be no more, a group of us decided to do something about it. We were concerned that Holmfirth would be losing a valuable asset and so formed VibeJive in February 2011.

Newsletter 22 - 1st February 2012

Lots for your diary this month — FWF (Freestyle—the one with the punch) this Wednesday 1st February from 7.30 pm — It is always a good night with great music and friendly atmosphere and a brilliant dance floor. Still only £6.00 on the door and that includes a glass of VibeJive punch! Non-alcoholic punch for drivers! ((Beginner’s Class in separate room).

For our Anniversary Party on Wednesday 15th February we have decided upon a theme after careful deliberation and its going to be GLITZ & GLAM so get that diamante out girls (ok, and you guys!!), click those heels ‘n LETS PARTY!!!

There are going to be surprises on the night with lots of treats ’n eats because we want this to be a night that you will remember!

Other news, well it was Pantomime night at Holmfirth last Wednesday the only thing is, VibeJive didn’t know!!! We found out at 5.45pm from a dedicated VibeJiver (thanks Michael!!) — what followed was our very own VibeJive Panto, along the lines of Whacky Races! Scenario was VibeJivers, DJ, dance teachers all due at 7.30 — dance hall full of chairs, bandstand, ticket desk, costumes - “oh yes it was”!!!

So following frantic phone calls between various people, we did a quick shufty down to North Light Gallery and accosted a suspicious tap dance teacher, told an abbreviated sob story, begged for help - urgent help - more frantic phone calls, then, hey presto, we had booked a room, advised everyone, had VibeJivers writing notices and redirecting people at the Civic Hall (thanks so much Michael Boothroyd and Sue Harman —stars) and we ended up having a great night with 7 new VibeJivers!! “Oh yes we did…”

(Have to apologise to the temporary caretaker at the Civic Hall - it really wasn’t his fault but I did lose my rag a bit when I saw the hall full of chairs, followed by a bit of pacing up and down, a few choice words, then lots of phone calls and above mentioned high speed car journey.)

Following all the above, the naughty bunch - and by this time exhausted bunch - went to our “When We’re at the North Light Gallery” watering hole, The Lockwood and we had a very entertaining time, recounting the night’s activities etc. It’s never dull at VibeJive!

Hope to see you Wednesday, it will be good preparation for those of you going to Southport, for those not going, hard lines and we will miss you. There is still some accommodation available and certainly one bargain Classic Chalet for 2 ladies going for £175.00 (amount paid was £272—bargain or what?) “Oh yes it is….”

Keep happy…..…..keep dancing – Any ideas, lets have ‘em!
